5 Things You Didn't Know About Matt

My first job was...

McDonald’s. I had a buddy who already worked there and I couldn’t wait to get started so I applied before I was 16. They wouldn’t let me start then, but my first day was the day after I turned 16.

Currently at the top of my bucket list is...

To ride the Tour de France course as a spectator.

Something that may surprise you about me is...

I’ve been on 2 mission trips to an orphanage in Honduras (and this was before there was cell coverage there). The first time I went by myself with a group of people I had never met. The second time I went with my wife, but we had to leave our kids behind without contact for a week.

I am...

All of the above. Some day, after the kids move out, we’ll move to the city, but until then, closer to country suits us just fine. Plus, it’s a lot easier to find safe roads to ride the bicycle on when you live in the faraway ‘burbs.

My favorite book is...

"The Hard Thing About Hard Things," by Ben Horowitz. I’m not all the big on management and business books because they tend to be fluffy and theoretical without much substance about how to actually get things done. The book, however, talks about all the hard things that have to be done and provides examples of how they get done. It’s in your face.
